Cemaes is the perfect base for a walking holiday. It sits on one of the most dramatic sections of the Anglesey Coastal Path.

Walk east from the village, past the historic Llanbadrig Church, and on to the old brickworks at Port Wen. Assuming your legs haven’t given out – this is one of the most challenging sections of the coastal path – carry on to Amlwch Port for a well-deserved rest. While you are there, you could explore Copper Kingdom, which charts the history of copper mining in the area. Download the guide or the map to this section of the coastal path.

Walk west and once you have rounded Wylfa Head and put the power station behind you the views open up as you approach Cemlyn, famed for its wild birds and beautiful crescent pebble beach. Carry on to the stunning Church Bay with its extraordinary rocks, and relax over a meal at the Lobster Pot. Download the guide or map for the Church Bay to Cemaes Bay section of the coastal path.

There are also plenty of shorter walks for children or people looking for a more relaxed time. Wander up the Wygyr Valley and look at the remains of the old brickworks, or stroll around the Community Woodland finishing up at the park with its many distractions for children.
